 On
23 March, the Southern Africa Business Forum (SABF) will hold a reception at the
Botswana High Commission in London to mark the launch of the new association under
the management of WABA, the West Africa Business Association. Members of SABF
include companies and agencies involved in South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique,
Namibia, Angola, Zambia, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Malawi and DRC Congo.
SABF's launch comes at an important time for Southern Africa and the continent
as a whole, with UK and world leaders discussing a series of initiatives to foster
trade and economic growth across Africa.
 Members
of both SABF and WABA will attend the launch. Representatives from other associated
organisations - including the East Africa Association, British Nigeria Business
Club and British Nigeria Association - are also expected, along with embassy staff,
high commissioners and ambassadors from African countries.
Guest speakers will include Dr. Greg Mills, National Director of the
South African Institute of International Affairs (SAII) in Johannesburg, and the
author of several books on African economic and security issues. It is hoped that
Rt Hon Paul Boateng MP, Chief Secretary to the UK Treasury, will also be
present.
Dr. Mills - who also will shortly become a director of The Brenthurst Foundation,
established by the Oppenheimer family to develop strategies for higher rates of
economic growth in Africa - will give a keynote lecture on the latest prospects
for South Africa and the wider African market.
The fee for the meeting, including buffet lunch and wine, is £65.00 for non-members,
£35.00 for WABA/FABA members and £30.00 for SABF members. For more information
