Earthwatch Lecture – 'Ghanaian Communities & Conservation'
Thursday, 7.00pm - 8.30pm, at the Royal Geographical Society, 1 Kensington Gore, London SW7 2AR. Two talks on Earthwatch's work with the Nature Conservation Research Centre of Ghana (NCRC) to develop research and conservation projects to the benefit not only of the environment, but also the livelihoods of the local populations through community based ecotourism. John Mason, Executive Director of the NCRC, will give an historical overview of this programme, while Dr. Patrick Ofori Danson, of the University of Ghana, will specifically tell us about his work on West African manatees. Steve Cameron has more than 20 years experience developing business in Africa's sub region. He was part of the founding management team that built an organisation that traded to Africa covering Senegal to Angola. Since 2001 his consultancy business focused on Africa provides; market research, business development consultancy and African country briefings for embassy staff and executives. He recently chaired a conference session in Barcelona on Privatisation of Africa Ports and is due to give a key note speech on trade prospects for Africa in Dar es Salaam next year. Steve is a Director of the West Africa Business Association, responsible for the Francophone countries and a member of the Royal African Society.

Rachael White has over 15 years' experience as a journalist, editor and conference producer, specialising in the global logistics and transport business. She is well-versed in all aspects of conference production, from initial research and agenda design, through to recruitment, budgeting, marketing and operational management. A graduate of Cambridge University, Rachael has edited a number of transport industry trade journals and has created agendas for leading transport industry conferences. Rachael has chaired a number of conferences.
